OUGD403 : Design Skills - 'Power Critique'

As we are half way through the 'Alphabet Soup : Typeface' brief, we were asked to attend a 'Power Crit' to check our progress and receive any necessary feedback on how we should what we should do next. Unlike the crit which we participated in last week, we were in smaller groups of six students and two of our tutors were also present at the discussion. As all the work we had produced was work-in-progress we each, in turn explained what we had done and how we had approached the brief.
I preferred this weeks crit as opposed to last weeks, as I was able to explain in more detail the approach I had taken and the feedback I received was again, more detailed and constructive, it was also useful having the tutors opinion on my work and I am now confident on what I will do before next weeks deadline.

Three things I will do in response to the 'Power Crit':

Variations of initial ideas - From the initial ideas I produced I will select one which I will develop further, I particularly would like to experiment with the colour on one of my designs by inverting the colours as this was a suggestion by my tutor as something that could work quite well.

Try a different typeface - I was quite concerned by the legibility of the illustration underneath my letterform, as the helvetica typeface I originally chose is not 'heavy', I feel perhaps experimenting with a heavier typeface could improve this.

Choose final design - From the ideas I have produced initially, I will need to select one as my final idea as I will then be able to test the legibility of this design by using it to make words and producing it to scale.
